10 Years of Marriage!

Last weekend Tom & I had our 10 year anniversary. As most of you know the actual day (9/11) has been forever tainted but our marriage is not. We actually find it comical all the things that go wrong for us on the day every year. This year to celebrate we decided to go to New York for the weekend. We had a wonderful time. This was the first time since Miles was born that we have traveled alone, we always go with friends. It was like a second honeymoon we had such a great time enjoying each other for 3 days.

We left on a very early Friday morning flight and Tom described the flight as the worst flight ever. He flies a lot and said that this was the top 3 of turbulent flights he has ever been on. As for me and my motion sickness we found it to be the worst flight ever. I got so sick.......yup I had to use the little bag in the seat pocket. Tom informed me that I am never allowed to travel with him in any way without Dramamine. You see I did not take it that morning since I have never had problems on a plane before. We got to the city, ate some breakfast then took a nap. I needed to recover from the flight. Our nap was interrupted by the school calling to inform me that Miles has a high fever. Great! We got that taken care of and went out shopping. You know that makes everything better. Then we ate a yummy dinner and headed to the Yankees game in the rain. Riding the subway there was an experience because this was the game that Derek Jeter was expected to beat Lou Gehrig hitting record so the subway was packed. The game was delayed but started late and we were able to see Jeter break the record. That was super cool.

Saturday we slept in, ate a yummy egg sandwich got ready and went shopping. Shopping is such an event in the city. Nothing is close to each other. Lots and lots of walking is really what we did. We found a mall and Tom got some stuff at J. Crew then we got on the subway to go to Macy's. I got a trench coat and some other things. Then we headed back to hotel to get ready for dinner and our play. We ate at The Palm, which is fabulous, the best meal I have ever eaten. Then we went to see The Lion King, which was great. The costumes were fabulous. Sorry picture quality is not the greatest. We were using Tom's new iPhone.

Sunday we went for a walk in Central Park then visited the Manhattan Church of Christ, got ready and headed out for our last day in the city. Our flight left late Sunday night. We of course shopped some more but we went to the top of the Empire State Building. It was a long wait but so worth it. The city looks so different without the Twin Towers. After that we shopped, ate and people watched till we headed to airport.

I feel so blessed to have Tom and 10 years of marriage. It may not always be easy but it is so worth it. I look forward to many more years with this great man!
