My sweet baby boy is 7 and really not a baby anymore. No matter the age of my kids they will always be my babies.
Mason is a one of a kind. I know I have said here before but he loves life like no one else I know. He has passion overflowing in him. His passion is not always positive. He still thinks big brother is out to get him and is “mean” and “not fair”. I can not disagree with all those statements about Miles’ relationship with Mason but they do not like to be apart. They can’t live together and can’t live without each other. Mason does struggle with self-control, who doesn’t right? He gets very upset easily and will cry often. Mostly when dealing with Miles. I keep telling Mason to not care what Miles says.
Mason is doing great in school. He is a great reader and spelling words come easy for him. He has sloppy handwriting because he rushes and struggles with math. We have been working on math facts every day and he is getting better. He loves school. He loves the bus, the cafeteria, his teacher and everything about school. He is very social and outgoing. He has lots of people he talks too but is a loyal friend. He has a couple really good friends, but knows and talks to everyone.
He is really enjoying sports this year. He played basketball and really liked it. He was good at it too. He is also improving and enjoying baseball this season. Swim team is next up for him. Wonder which one he will pick to be his favorite. I’m thinking basketball. When playing sports Mason is a leftie. He bats left and shoot the basketball lefty. Crazy because he is right handed.
Mason makes me smile every day! He is hilarious. He also brings tears to my eyes most days. He is so loving and such a pleaser. He is tender hearted and sensitive. I pray God will protect his tender heart and not let the world squash it. Mason is always the kid who volunteers to pray. And when he prays he does not just thank God for the food he opens his heart. He remembers people we have added to our prayer list 2 weeks back, he prayed while my brother in law was deployed to keep his safe and bring him home every night. While my sister was pregnant he would pray that baby John Pierce would come out safe. We don’t tell him what to pray. Lately he has prayed some prayers that make me laugh and cry. Last week he thanked God for baseball. “God thank you for baseball. It’s not whether we win or lose it that we have fun and I do so thank you for baseball.” Then 2 nights ago while on antibiotics for sinus infections, he prays. God please unclog my nose so I can smell and recognize the smells of dinner mom cooks, followed by 4 people who are sick and need our prayers.
Now a look back at Mason in Tom’s shirt!

Oh My sweet Mason. He has blessed my life beyond words. He is a wonderful little boy whom God has amazing plans for. I feel it is one of the best gifts I could have every received watching him turn into the man God wants him to be.
And as Mason has taught me, Don’t forget to stop and smell the flowers. These moments my friends are the ones I treasure the most with my sweet baby.
